Rich and Cheap

Swagbucks Update, a Few Freebies, and a Diaper Deal!

Posted by: richandcheap on: March 23, 2009

I just scored my 5th $5 Amazon.com giftcard from Swagbucks, and I have very few people signed up under me. It is so extremely easy. If anyone wants  a referral, here it is. I love this site!

Get a coupon for a free bottle of Northland Dark Fruit Juice by filling out a survey on their site!

FREE Diet Dr. Pepper coupon here!

Diapers Diapers Diapers (and other baby stuff!)…have you ever visited diapers.com? If not, now is the time. They have everything from diapers, to formula, to car seats. Use the referral code PeasHair to get $10 off your first order, but don’t stop there! They are having great sales right now, plus you can MAIL IN your manufacturer coupons to get even deeper discounts. IN ADDITION, for the month of March, you get a $5 credit to your account for each friend you refer (they have to place an order, of course), and you get a $1 credit every time your friend orders after that. FREE SHIPPING on orders over $49.00. Try beating that diaper deal, and let me know if you do it, because I want in on that one!

Get a CVS ExtraCare Card

Posted by: richandcheap on: February 17, 2009

If you don’t have one of these and you shop at CVS, do me a favor and go flush a $5.00 bill down the toilet. That’s what you are doing every time you shop at CVS without an ExtraCare card.

Seriously. Sometimes people look at me as if I’m crazy when I’m making deals at CVS. I just think, “What? You pay for stuff here? You’re the one who’s crazy!”

Here is an example of how it can work:

Last night, I went to CVS and picked up 2 Neutrogena bars. They cost $2.99 each, totaling $5.98 plus tax. I paid for this with ECB’s (ExtraCare Bucks), which are credits good at any CVS from promotional deals. My OOP (out of pocket) was $0.00. Did I get them for free? Nope. I actually received $10.00 in ECB’s to use next time I “buy” something at CVS. Sweet. That is called a “Money Maker” (MM). By the way, this deal is still going on, so try to get in there quickly and work the deal.

CVS is my special friend. Sometimes I have a small out of pocket, sometimes I get things for free, and sometimes I make money (CVS money).

Other CVS perks include getting giftcards when you transfer prescriptions (look for coupons in your Sunday paper), earning certificates for $5 off $15 or $10 off $30 purchase, getting free photo prints when you sign up online at their photo center…

You can learn more at iheartcvs. Happy CVS’ing!

P.S. And yes, this is a brag and shameless promotion of self. I won another gift card at Swagbucks.com. They make it so darn easy!!! Hey, I didn’t get rich being subtle!

Don’t Even THINK about Paying for That Razor!

Posted by: richandcheap on: February 11, 2009

You can get free razors often.

Here’s a way you can do it right now, as in today.

1. Transfer a prescription from any pharmacy TO Walgreen’s. Call Walgreen’s first to make sure they will give you a $25 gift card for transferring the prescription (they often have coupons for this in their ads–the last one was in an ad about 2 weeks ago). Yay, you get a $25 gift card. Don’t use it yet.

2. Find a newspaper from this past weekend. There’s a coupon in one of the coupon inserts for $4.00 off a Gillette Fusion Gamer razor.  Sounds fancy huh? Clip it out.

3. Here’s the scenario:

  • Razor price is $8.99
  • Coupon brings price down to $4.99
  • When you pay the $4.99 (plus tax) using your fancy gift card, a very special piece of paper will print.
  • It’s a coupon (Register Reward) for $6.00 off your next Walgreen’s visit.
  • So yeah, Walgreen’s just paid you a few dimes to take the razor.
  • Sweet.

You may not use the Register Reward to repeat this deal. The computer will beep, and they will call you out in public. Not fun. Not that I’ve ever tried anything like this.

Swagbucks.com

Posted by: richandcheap on: February 11, 2009

This site and some recent deals I have been rocking inspired me to start up a new blog.

Swagbucks.com is the easiest way I’ve found to earn gift cards (Starbuck’s, Amazon, Target) without wasting my precious time or money. All you do is sign up, then use their search feature to search the web instead of whatever search feature you currently use. You do nothing extra. You *can* do extra stuff to earn more swagbucks. Or not. Totally up to you. On top of that, you earn swagbucks when the people you refer earn swagbucks.

I usually hate sites like this, but not my sweet little swagbucks.com.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

Hint: Best time to earn, in my experience, is early morning, when I assume there is less traffic; however, during the day I hear people earn bigger prizes. Become a fan on their Facebook page and pay attention to their blog for other chances to earn swagbucks.

Hi, I’m Rich and Cheap

Posted by: richandcheap on: February 11, 2009

The important thing is not that I’m rich, but that I’m cheap.

My husband makes a nice salary. I stay home with our offspring. I have a finance degree. He has an economics degree and an MBA. We both are stupid enough to go out to eat on an above average basis, and smart enough to know our lives could drastically change at any minute.

That’s why I choose to be cheap!

I’ll update here as often as I can to share my secrets!
